I am sure that by now you all get it- I love lipstick. This is like my third blog post just about lipstick. But ya know what? Lipstick is one of my favorite things. I wear it when I am in pajamas sometimes. Because it makes me feel fabulous. Not to mention- I believe it MAKES an outfit. So I want to share my love of lipstick with all of you because I genuinely think these suggestions will change your life (I am being dramatic)…..(kinda). Anyways- here are my top 5 lipsticks for that September transition where it isn’t summer, but still might be warm, and isn’t fall… but still might be cool. I have chosen two reds, two mauvey-pinks, and one nude. All will be listed at the bottom for easy shopping 🙂 Here we go!
- Urban Decay Vice liquid lipstick in “Crimson”
I love this lipstick because it is a deep and RICH red without being too dark. My lips turn everything 35 shades darker than it really is… especially liquid lipsticks. That being said, I tend to gravitate towards bright, warmer tone reds. A deep or cool tone red usually turns maroon or almost black on me. I found this lipstick because it was in my bridal kit, and I had used it on several people and thought it was stunning. To be honest, I never even tried it because I assumed it would be too dark or too cool on me. I WAS WRONG. It dries the exact color that is in the tube and somehow even has a faint warm undertone. It is a GORGEOUS color that could pass as either a summer or fall lipstick. You need it.
2. Maybelline Stay all Day liquid lipstick in “Pioneer”
I have reviewed this formula of liquid lips before and you all know I love it. When they say “stay all day”, they are NOT playing. Especially this color. I am not kidding when I say, one time I took a shower and when I got out, this lipstick was still perfectly on my lips. Not even smudged lol. The craziest part is, even though it has this insane staying power, IT NEVER DRIES OUT MY LIPS. This is one of the best liquid lip formulas I have ever tried, and the color is a flattering bright red that would look great on a variety of skin tones.
3. Charlotte Tilbury liquid lipstick in “Rising Star”
If you know me, you know that Charlotte Tilbury could sell me anything. She could sell me dirt in a bag if she labeled it “Filmstar Hollywood Best Dirt in a Bag of Your Life” (this is how all her products are labeled). I believe she makes some of the best quality makeup the world has ever seen, and she has one heck of a marketing manager. Her liquid lipsticks are new and they are no exception. They are moisturizing and make your lips appear FULLER AND WIDER. Not a drill. This color is a warm pink with enough brightness to make it work for summer, and enough richness to make it work for fall. And it smells really good. I will probably buy every color she makes.
4. Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in “Pillow Talk”
Surprise- more Charlotte Tilbury. This lipstick is the shade she is probably most famous for. It is a “your lips but better” mauve that has never seen a skin tone it didn’t flatter, and the formula is out of this world. It is marketed as a matte, but it still has a gorgeous, plumping sheen. When I wear this, I get SO many compliments. I put this on my best friend one day after she asked me what I was wearing and I was shocked to see it looked even better on her haha. This is a year round lipstick that honestly can do no wrong. There is also a matching “pillow talk” liner that will change your lip liner life forever (I will also link that at the bottom).
5. LO’real Infallible Paints Matte in “Tongue Tied”
This is the only nude of the bunch, mostly because I have already posted so many things about nude lipsticks lol. Most people don’t think of nude lipstick as a fall lipstick, but this one is rich and has a pinky brown undertone. The rich brown tones makes it a perfect fall nude. I typically don’t like brown lipstick, but this one WORKS. The formula is lightweight and you can hardly feel it on your lips.
That’s it for my top 5 transitional lipsticks! Let me know what you think in the comments below. What is your go-to transitional lipstick?
