If you know me, you probably know by now how I feel about matcha. I am a crazy matcha lady. I tell strangers on the street about matcha. It’s because I know how much it has changed my life, and I want to share with EVERYONE. Matcha is antioxidant packed, boosts metabolism, clears skin, and gives you the most peaceful, time released caffeine surge (with NO CRASH OR JITTERS). It is very important to be picky with the kinds of matcha you drink. Often, the kind of matcha you may order at a coffee shop is culinary grade at best, and it will not give you the same taste or benefits of ceremonial grade matcha.
My absolute favorite matcha is from The Matcha Reserve. They not only sell high quality, organic, ceremonial grade matcha- but they have so. many. flavors. It makes it hard for a girl to choose. So I don’t choose and I buy them all. Oops.
Today I will show you in step by step pics, how I make my matcha latte. The flavor of matcha that I choose may change, but the rest is always the same. Enjoy!
First, I start by boiling a little bit of water- you only need about 2 ounces. You can also microwave!
Next, I use Silk Unsweetened Coconut milk. I love this milk because it is only 45 calories per serving, tastes like coconuts (my fave), and tastes AMAZING with any flavor of matcha.
I pour about 3/4 of a cup into my milk frother to warm it up, and I add half a pack of Splenda. Now, the point of the milk frother isn’t actually to froth the milk, because coconut milk doesn’t really froth. I just like to use it as an easy way to warm the milk while I am doing the rest of the steps. You could also use a microwave or the stove to heat your milk.
Here comes the good part! For today, I chose Caramel matcha, which is D E L I C I O U S. The flavor is faint, so don’t be intimidated. But I must admit- the mix of caramel matcha with the coconut milk is to die for.
I use a traditional matcha scoop and put 2 scoops into my bowl. You could use a regular spoon to do this, and you can also do this straight into a mug and skip the bowl.
I pour in my near boiling water and WHISK WHISK WHISK!
Whisk in an M motion! Don’t stop whisking until you have a nice froth on the top of your matcha and you can see it is dissolved into the hot water.
Next, I pour my coconut milk into the mixture, and it’s time to enjoy.
I like to drink it straight out of the bowl 🙂
